Empower Sleep uses FDA-approved technology approved to aid in the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders. Your sleep is recorded using a wearable ring and minimally disruptive to your sleep. This accurate, convenient, and comfortable ring can be used for multiple nights, which gives us more data to ensure optimal outcomes.
The SleepImage software and Viatom oximeter ring use 6 channels of data to accurately detect sleep apnea and estimate sleep quality.
The following data is measured: Plethysmogram, Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability, Respiration, Blood Oxygenation (SpO2) and Movement (Actigraphy).
The at-home sleep test is shown to agree with in-lab tests in over 90.5% of cases (with 98.8% accuracy in severe sleep apnea and 96.3% in mild sleep apnea patients).
Individuals who want to get tested from the comfort of their own homes and beds, who don't want to spend the night in a sleep lab and/or don't want to wait for a Polysomnography appointment.
The following symptoms may be indicators of sleep disorders:
If you have previously been diagnosed with sleep apnea or insomnia, Empower Sleep can still help you improve your sleep dramatically.
Empower Sleep can support you with the following:
Meet with a sleep provider online so we get a better understanding of your sleep and medical history. Based on your history and symptoms, your provider will approve a device with FDA-approved technology, which will be shipped directly to you.
We will ship you a home sleep testing ring, detailed instructions, and a return label. Start your sleep test by capturing up to 10 nights of data.
Why 10 nights? Human sleep is dynamic, so more data reduces the risk of night-to-night variability and helps us hyper-personalize your care plan. Use the Empower Sleep app to track your sleep, chat with your provider, and get unique insights based on your results.
Meet with your Empower Sleep provider virtually. Together, you will develop a personalized care plan based on your sleep data, health history, and lifestyle. Treatments are delivered directly to you. Our holistic approach includes medical devices like CPAP, oral appliances, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and/or conservative options (e.g. lip tape, nasal dilators, positional therapy, etc.).
As a member, you will continue to use the sleep test to optimize your treatment and get long-term care. Our care team will monitor your sleep data and check-in frequently to ensure optimal health outcomes.
We recommend an at-home sleep test for:
People who suspect they might have at least one other sleep disorder besides sleep apnea, or possibly a different one, should consult with a physician and discuss whether an in-lab study is recommended.

Snoring may not only be uncomfortable for you and your bed partner, but is also a sleep apnea symptom. Both could be caused by obstructed airways and often occur at the same time.
We help to analyze your sleep at home and suggest a personalized treatment.
Fixing snoring & sleep apnea can result in reduction of daytime fatigue, higher energy levels and improved performance.
We completely understand - sleep studies create anxiety, which makes it even harder to sleep. That's why Empower Sleep uses convenient and comfortable sleep tests that can be used for multiple nights. You'll have enough time to get comfortable with the experience.
Also, every night is different, and Empower Sleep recommends testing for at least three nights to account for intra-night variability. Research suggests that multi-night testing results in a more accurate diagnosis.
The SleepImage software is an FDA-approved Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) that analyzes your pulse and blood oxygenation signals to detect pauses and partial reduction in breathing. SleepImage also uses a Cardio Pulmonary Coupling (CPC) analysis to provide additional metrics that help determine sleep apnea treatment efficacy.
The sensor data is sent directly to your sleep physician from your cell phone's Bluetooth. The sleep physician will have access to your data and can make personalized recommendations based on your results.
Sleep should be measured across long-term trends, not a single night. The probability of misdiagnosis in a single night test ranges from 20% to 50% (study 1, study 2). Clinical studies have shown that the accuracy of a sleep test increases with the number of nights tested. With Empower Sleep, you can complete up to 14 nights of sleep testing.
The SleepImage software has been certified by the FDA and is shown to agree with results from an In-lab sleep test (Polysomnography) in 96.3% of mild sleep apnea tests, 90.5% of moderate sleep apnea tests, and 98.8% of severe sleep apnea tests (source).
In the United States, a CPAP machine is a federally regulated medical device that requires a prescription. Also, a medical doctor's diagnosis is necessary to secure insurance coverage for certain dental sleep appliances.
To obtain a prescription, one must complete an at-home or in-lab sleep study.
The SleepImage software is shown to agree with results from in-lab sleep tests (Polysomnography) in 96.3% of mild sleep apnea cases, 90.5% of moderate sleep apnea cases, and 98.8% of severe sleep apnea cases (source)
While recent clinical studies (study 1, study 2) demonstrate the importance of multi-night sleep tests, insurance coverage of multi-night sleep tests has lagged behind. If you plan to submit the expense or the results of an Empower Sleep home sleep test to your health insurance, you should consult with your insurance plan before purchasing the sleep test.
You can also utilize your HSA or FSA to cover the sleep test costs.
The SleepImage ring will track your pulse and blood oxygenation levels during your home sleep test. The results will be shared with your doctor through your phone's Bluetooth. Your doctor will then review the data, develop your diagnosis, and create your personalized care plan.
The Empower Sleep care team takes into account sleep apnea related indexes (AHI, RDI, ODI), as well as quality parameters in crafting your care plan. Parameters include but are not restricted to your health history, symptoms, the amount of sleep in each sleep stage, the amount of stable sleep, and your overall sleep architecture.
Discuss the problems preventing you from a good night’s rest. Visits are done virtually through your phone or computer.
